The Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care (the Coalition) is Canadas premier integrated green health care resource network; a national voice and catalyst for environmental change. The Coalition supports the Canadian health care sector to integrate environmentally responsible practices into the delivery of health care. We are a national membership-based not-for-profit organisation with membership representing 40% of acute care beds across Canada. Our areas of focus include the Circular Economy, resiliency, energy efficiency and conservation, the Sharing Economy, waste reduction, safer chemicals, environmentally preferable purchasing, healthy and sustainable food, and green leadership. http://www.greenhealthcare.ca
Position Overview:
The successful candidate will work with team members of the Coalition and report to the Executive Director.
The Health Services Researcher #1 will investigate the current practices, technologies and services used in the health sector which reduce the waste of resources and create innovations in health care technologies, practices and services. The role will involve communicating ways to help the health sector reduce greenhouse gas emissions and become more environmentally sustainable through the principles of a Circular Economy. Research findings will be used to generate content such as case studies, articles, videos, webpages, etc.
Key job responsibilities:
Background research identifying how the circular economy is currently being applied in the health care sector and what the potential is for circular economy with existing projects within Canada.
Identify and contact health care suppliers that are engaged in circular economy activities, summarize findings and present to Coalition leadership.
Identify and register health care suppliers, and health care organisations that are interested in participating in Coalitions online sharing platform.
Develop new marketing materials for the Coalitions projects, initiatives, website development, and/or promotional campaigns as needed. These may include but are not limited to:
A Case study focusing on the health care sector and the circular economy.
An article for health care specific journals and prepare a web-based presentation on the research results.
Visuals, graphs and charts on a variety of topics related to the Circular Economy.
A virtual presentation on findings and best practices.
Collaborate with other Coalition team members on related projects as required.
To qualify for this job the applicants must:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;
Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
*Foreign students are not eligible
Applicants should:
Have an interest in/knowledge of environment sustainability issues in health care.
Have technical proficiency with WordPress and other design software such as Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign.
Be highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite programs.
Have excellent written and oral proficiency in English.
Be able to work well independently and within a virtual team.
Have access to a home office or other work station with a computer and reliable phone and Wi-Fi connection.
