Position: Communications Lead
Organization: CLIMAtlantic
Location: applicants should live in Atlantic Canada
Hours: can be a full time position, but we can be flexible

Are you interested in climate change? Do you have a background in communications and love social media? Are you interested in being part of a start-up in Atlantic Canada that wants to make a difference?

We may be looking for you to join our team! In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your communications skills to help communicate effectively and strategically. If you are an enthusiastic, outgoing and energetic person, and you love all things communications and are interested in climate change, we would love to meet with you!

CLIMAtlantic Inc. is a new non-profit organization that is part of a national network of climate services centres (see the Canadian Centre for Climate Services). CLIMAtlantic will focus on creating a strong Atlantic Canada network generating a wealth of information sharing in this space, in addition to supporting specific unique place-based work. CLIMAtlantic will work with regional and local actors to ensure that this will become a strong network where collaboration is supported, data and tools are easily accessible, and services will be provided by local and regional partners as much as possible.

Required:
• College or university degree in communications, journalism, public relations or marketing, or equivalent experience
• A combination of 3 years of relevant and related work experience in journalism, communications, media relations, marketing
• A superb command of the English language (reading, writing and speaking)
• Excellent editing and popular writing skills in English
• Excellent familiarity with various social media tools, platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube) and strategies
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Creative Suite (or other similar software)
• Familiarity with website maintenance, development

Bonus:
• Experience developing, editing and producing multimedia products (audio/video podcasts, audio slideshows, YouTube videos, etc.).
• French language proficiency an asset (speaking and writing)
• Experience working with non-profits
• Familarity with Wordpress

Compensation and Benefits
• Salary will be based on skills, experience and qualifications of the successful candidate (range: 40,000 to 50,000 per year, plus health and dental benefits plan).
• This can be a full time position, but we can be flexible!
