Position: Communications Coordinator
Organization: Food First NL
Location: work remotely anywhere in the province or from an office in St. John's, Newfoundland

The Job:

Food First NL is seeking a full-time Communications Coordinator. These are the core responsibilities and preferred skills for the position:
• Develop Content | Develop clear and engaging written and graphic content about Food First NL and food issues in the province. Lead design of Food First NL’s online and print materials in collaboration with contractors.
• Experience with writing for various audiences, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva are assets.
• Manage Communications Platforms | Manage, improve, and monitor analytics for Food First NL’s communications platforms. This includes Food First NL’s websites, email newsletter, and social media platforms. Cultivate a consistent brand and voice for Food First NL across communications platforms.
• Experience with Squarespace, Wordpress, MailChimp, SEO, Facebook, twitter, and Instagram are assets.
• Experience leading groups in the development and review of materials is an asset.
• Experience working within an established brand and voice is an asset.
• Plan and Strategize |Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of Food First NL’s Communications Plan and Style Guide. Collaborate with other staff to develop and implement project-specific communications plans.
• Experience developing and implementing communications plans is an asset.
• Coordinate Media | Support the CEO with media relations. This includes writing press releases, identifying and pursuing strategic media opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships with media.
• Experience with writing press releases and developing media campaigns are assets.
• Public Engagement | Assist with Food First NL’s outreach and education activities to build and strengthen relationships with the public and partners. This includes hosting display booths, giving presentations, and attending events as a representative of the organization.
• Experience with public speaking and networking are assets.
• Experience working in the non-profit sector is an asset.

The Perks: 

Salary scale: $39,100 to $52,900
Health and dental benefits available after 3 months of employment.
Three weeks paid vacation to start plus 15 paid public holidays.
Flexibility to work remotely anywhere in the province or from an office in St. John’s.

Expected Start Date: February 2022
Position Type: Full-time, permanent
