Education and Outreach Program Leader
• Start date: As soon as possible (flexible)
• End date: March 31, 2023 (with the possibility of extension)
• Remuneration: $17.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay and statutory benefits at 35 hours per week.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

This position will involve the planning, delivery and evaluation of a wide range of educational and outreach programs. A majority of programs will be planned to support CARP’s Annapolis Sand Barrens and Middleton Wetland Restoration projects, but programs related to other areas of CARP’s work are anticipated. The role will involve working with a variety of audiences, including school-based programs for youth in elementary, secondary and post-secondary school, members of community organizations/groups, and members of the general public.

The Education and Outreach Program Leader will work with other CARP staff to identify key themes and learning objectives for activities and programs, and to identify key metrics for project delivery tracking and evaluation.

Normal work hours will be 8:30 am – 4:30 pm; early morning or late evening work may be required on occasion. This position may also require occasional weekend work, in order to plan programs when members of the public are available to attend. The position will include a mix of office work based out of CARP’s office in Annapolis Royal as well as field-based activities. The position will require access to a personal vehicle, with compensation provided according to the prevailing provincial mileage rate.

Specific tasks may include:
• Working with CARP staff to identify education/outreach program needs and targets
• Planning, organization, and delivery of programs/activities
• Background research to become familiar with program subject matter
• Promotion of events and management of event registrations
• Event/activity tracking
• Development of surveys and other tools to support program evaluation
• Development of partnerships to facilitate program planning and delivery
• Development of program support materials (worksheets, guides, handouts, etc.)
• Support for other CARP activities as assigned

Reporting Relationships:

The Education and Outreach Program Leader will report to the Agricultural Ecosystem Program Coordinator on matters specific to the delivery of programs/projects and report to the Administration Manager on all HR, contractual reporting deadlines and financial matters (e.g., travel claims, sick days, and vacation). The Education and Outreach Program Leader works closely and in cooperation with other staff members and in accordance with all CARP policies approved by the Board of Directors. The Education and Outreach Program Leader is not part of the CARP management team and no staff report directly to him/her/them.

Responsibilities of the Employer:

In consultation with the employee, the employer will carry out a performance evaluation within three months of the start of the contract and annually thereafter at a minimum.

The employee will carry out their duties described above in a timely fashion, conduct themself and ensure that those reporting to them conduct themselves in a professional manner and follow all policies of the employer and ensure that those reporting to them follow all policies of the employer.
