Hi there, I'm wondering if it's possible to post the following to your list:
The Province of Nova Scotia is inviting written comments on proposed amendments to the Nova Scotia Building Code Regulations<https://ecologyaction.ca/civicrm/mailing/url?u=31771&qid=3196168>, due by Sept. 29, 2023 to Joe Rogers at ofm at novascotia.ca<https://ecologyaction.ca/civicrm/mailing/url?u=31773&qid=3196168>. These regulations are part of the province’s commitment to “adopt a ‘net-zero energy ready’ model building code by 2030.” That would mean all new buildings could produce as much energy as they consume — about 70 percent more efficient than current standards.
However, the proposed changes will only bring the standard to Tier 3 of Canada’s 2020 National Building Codes, which is about 50 per cent more efficient than current standards, by 2028. The short position paper linked here<https://ecologyaction.ca/civicrm/mailing/url?u=31772&qid=3196168> outlines the case for adopting all five tiers by 2030 and empowering Nova Scotian municipalities to go further in their energy codes. Ecology Action Centre is asking concerned residents to provide written comments to the province expressing
1) Support for the action taken—moving to Tier 3—but making it clear that
2) We still need further amendments to reach Tier 5 of the federal codes by 2030, and that
3) Municipalities should be empowered to pass even higher minimum-efficiency regulations should they choose.
In solidarity,
Chris Benjamin

Many thanks!
