Job posting: General Manager Blyth Centre for the Arts/Blyth Festival

We seek a confident leader with a passion for theatre. The
successful candidate will possess excellent written and
oral communication skills and the ability to lead an
administration team. Strong interpersonal skills for
administration, community and audience development are
required. The new General Manager must also
demonstrate administrative experience in finance,
fundraising and marketing. Computer skills, particularly
experience with spreadsheets and Pagemaker or Quark,
are also essential.

The Blyth Festival operates under the umbrella of the Blyth
Centre for the Arts, a non-profit organization which includes
a 480 seat theatre for self produced and imported work, an
art gallery, orchestra, and choir. The Blyth Festival is an
annual summer repertory theatre producing 5-6 equity
shows between May and September. Since 1975 we have
produced new Canadian work of the highest calibre.
Excellent administration, rehearsal and production facilities
are all on site. The village of Blyth is an attractive rural
community within twenty minutes of Lake Huron's beaches
and roughly 45 minutes from Stratford.

The General Manager principal duties include:
preparing annual operating budget
hiring and direction of all administrative staff
preparing government and foundation grant applications
developing fundraising strategies
preparing annual marketing plan
negotiating contracts with all artists

The General Manager reports to the Blyth Centre for the
Arts Board of Directors and works in consultation with the
Blyth Festival Artistic Director. Interested candidates will be

fulltime year round. Salary commensurate with experience.
