The Arts Club Theatre Company is proud to present ReACT: New Plays in
Progress, our 3rd annual public reading series taking place Jan 16-25,
2003 on the Granville Island Stage. This series exemplifies our
continued commitment to the development and production of new Canadian
work and this year's readings showcase the work of four Canadian
playwrights. All performances will include a reading of the artist's
play, followed by a talkback with the cast, director, dramaturg and
playwright about the play and the process of script development.

Don't miss this opportunity to peek behind-the-scenes as some of
Vancouver's most talented actors, directors, dramaturgs and Canadian
playwrights bring new scripts to life. Here is a sneak preview of this
year's playwrights and their works-in-progress:

Fishnets by David King
Thursday, January 16 at 8pm - Reading and Talkback (to be followed by
Reception in Upper Lobby)
Friday, January 24 at 8pm - Reading and Talkback

David King has written extensively for the stage, as well as for radio,
T.V. and film. His last play at the Arts Club was Joey Shine. Mr. King
would like to thank the B.C. Arts Council for their support in writing
Fishnets.

Fishnets tells the tale of the struggling Club Morocco, a down and out
burlesque club in Vancouver circa 1969. Eddie De Vega, the club's emcee,
has only two weeks to turn the club around - otherwise the Lundy
Brothers, notorious gangsters from Edmonton, will turn the club into a
strip joint. A motley crew of artists band together to try to save
burlesque. Their efforts culminate in a rousing performance of the Hard
Candy Revue.

Cast features Earl Pastko, Allan Zinyk, Emelia Symington-Fedy
