CAEA DISCOUNT FOR INTENSIVE VOICE WORKSHOP with Sarah Weatherwax

This class is for professional actors and singers interested in improving
their ability to clearly and easily express text through the instrument of
voice. The work will benefit those who have little or no formal voice
training, as well as those who have extensive experience but want to
re-visit this method of work with a trained teacher. Students will be guided
through the entire progression of Warren/Linklater voice exercises - a
complete physical and vocal warm-up to prepare for auditions and
performances. Time will also be allotted for work on songs and audition
pieces.

Each human body is a unique creation, therefore each body houses a unique
voice. Finding the most natural voice by eliminating habitual muscular
tension in the body is the beginning to becoming a more refined and more
expressive actor and/or singer. This freedom from habitual tension means a
letting go of the past. The performer can now be more fully present and
playful within their instrument and within the moment-to-moment dynamics of
the scene or song and can now make bolder choices when physicalizing
characters.

Sarah Weatherwax, a Toronto theatre actor, has just returned from 4 months
in NYC where she observed Kristin Linklater teach Voice & Text and Voice &
Shakespeare to M.F.A. Acting students at Columbia Univ. During this time
Sarah gave private voice lessons to many of Kristin's students, giving them
specific instructions on the basic progression of exercises. Her work
experience as a teacher ranges from classes for children with speaking
challenges (stuttering, mumbling, etc.) to workshops for public school
teachers and public speakers. She has been coaching actors and singers
privately for 1 1/2 years.
