AUDITION NOTICE
LIGHTHOUSE FESTIVAL THEATRE

LIGHTHOUSE SEASON & CASTING REQUIREMENTS:
DISCOVERING ELVIS (Marcia Kash):

Rehearsal: May 27 to June 10
Performance: June 11-29

Backstage at a karaoke bar, four Elvis impersonators get ready for the
big contest, and all are determined to win the big prize. In act two,
all performers strut their stuff, and the audience picks the winner. A
show with high comedy, big dreams, and sensational music that brings
the spirit of Elvis to the Lighthouse stage. Long live the king!

Characters:
Marty: Good-natured, avuncular, family man, early 50's. Chubby &
thinning on top. An "old pro" at the Elvis game

Rick: Good-looking, confident, 30's. Hard-edged. Lots of black Elvis
style hair. Good body, moves well.

Jay: Naive, smart, enthusiastic, early 20's. Nervous, but keen to
learn. Dynamite young Elvis when he performs.

Cathy: Tough-cookie. Mid 40's. Strong and tall. Does a mean Elvis in
her jump suit with all the moves.

Darlene: Late 30's, quirky, intense. Seems grounded, even sweet, but a
bit fanatic.

Sue: Nice girl. Mid 20's. Experienced waitress; can hold her own.


HEAT WAVE (Michel Marc Bouchard: Translated by Bill Glassco)

Rehearsal: June 17-July 2
Performance: July 3-20

July in cottage country. It's hot! Gisele, recently widowed, is almost
50, and having an affair with Yannick, who is 20. Does he really love
her? Does she really love him? Should she break the news to her 30
year old twins? A story about finding love. A comedy that sizzles. An
Ontario premiere.

Characters:
Gisele Cloutier: Recently widowed woman in 50's. Mother of twins.
Attractive. Sexy. Part needs light comedic touch.

Yannick: Ex-delinquent. Truly in love with Gisele.. 20 years old.

Napoleon Bonneau: Mid 50's. Has neighbouring cottage. Compulsive
handyman. Likes Gisele, Has the sensitivity of a hammer.

Louisette: Gisele's daughter. 30. Twin to Louis

Louis: Gisele's son and twin to Louisette


DRINKING ALONE (Norm Foster)

Rehearsal: July 8-23
Performance: July 24 - August 10

A portrait of the dysfunctional Todd family. Thirty-something Joe Todd
hasn't spoken to his domineering father in eight years. When he learns
his father is coming to visit, to impress him Joe hires a woman from
an escort service to pose as his fiancé.

Characters:
Joe Todd: In his 30's. A dry cleaner

Renee Duchene: 30's. A hair stylist

Carrie O'Neill 29. A newscaster

Ivan Todd 60's. Bookstore Owner

Phyllis Todd 50's. Ivan second wife


WOODEN BOATS & IRON MEN ( Bruce Milner & Simon Joynes)

Rehearsal: July 22 to August 13
Performance: August 14-31A journey through time with haunting music,
powerful songs, and tall tales from the past. A Lake Erie fisherman
tells the story of the people who have lived on Lake Erie's North
Shore, and the men who lived, and died, on its waters. A theatrical
tour-de-force. A world premiere.

Characters:
Ensemble show. 4 males, 20's to 40's; 3 females 20's to 40's. All must
be excellent singers and comfortable in Celtic/folk idiom. Musical
instruments - guitar, mandolin, banjo, flute - a huge plus.
