GENERAL MANAGER NEEDED

Founded in 1991 by Artistic Director Stacey Christodoulou, The Other
Theatre is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the development of
alternative theatre in Montreal.  The company is a permanent ensemble of
Montreal theatre artists devoted to physical, experimental creation with
a focus on the development of new work, including adaptations,
de-constructions, original texts and collectively written material with

The Other Theatre is seeking a General Manager. Reporting directly to
the Artistic Director, the ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2
years' administrative experience in performing arts and non-profit
organisations, and will have a good understanding of budgeting, grant
preparation, artist contract negotiations and other day-to-day theatre
operations. Must be well organised and computer proficient.
Bilingualism considered an asset. Permanent contract position to begin
September 2002 and renewable yearly. Interested candidates please send

Responsibilities
Reporting directly to Artistic Director and accountable to the Board of
Directors, the GM will:
*	Act as liaison between the company and the production team, as
well as the community at large;
*	Manage the office and oversee daily operations of the company
*	Negotiate Human Resources issues- e.g. CAEA, U de A, APASQ
contracts
*	Oversee marketing and fundraising departments
*	Supervise all personnel associated with the company (e.g.
accountant, volunteers, office and production staff)
*	Oversee all productions


Tasks:
*	Budget analysis and company development.
*	Research grants and funding sources that would increase company
revenues.
*	Assist in annual government grant preparation, particularly in
the areas of budget and administrative reporting.
*	Update and maintain and update company database and mailing
lists.
*	Take care of general correspondence in daily company operations,
in both English and French.
*	Oversee company finances - e.g. Banking, GST/PST refunds,
preparation of books for annual financial review, weekly and monthly
accounting.
