CONFERENCE COORDINATOR POSITION 

 Community Arts Ontario is (CAO) is a non-profit, multi disciplinary
arts network representing a diversified membership of over 145 community
and arts organizations across the province. Our growing organization
invites applications for the part-time position of Conference
Coordinator. 

In 2003, CAO will be presenting its next conference Kick It Up a Notch:
Animating Communities in the City of Toronto, at Harbourfront Centre,
May 1- 4, 2003. 

 Co hosted by The Toronto Community Arts Alliance of Greater Toronto
Area community arts councils (TCAA), the Toronto Arts Council and the
City of Toronto Culture Division, will bring together a broad group of
community arts artists, organizations, cultural professionals, policy
makers and art supporters. 

 Responsibilities include:

Coordinate all aspects of the Conference in an administrative capacity

Assist with fundraising applications for grants, sponsorship and in-kind
contributions for various aspects of the conference 
Coordinate all promotional materials, announcements, postcards,
brochures and mailing lists and all publicity, press releases and press
kits for the event. 
 Organize the Call for Submissions to members province-wide and
non-members in the GTA 
  Coordinate scheduling and details for programmed events with
Harbourfront and other site locations 
Coordinate bussing schedules for site visits and receptions 
Coordinate hotel accommodations for delegates 
Administer all contract agreements, registration requirements and
confirmations for attendance. 
Assist with volunteers for the three day event and sponsors 
   Meet with the Conference committee on a ongoing meetings 
Candidates must have experience in event planning and programming in the
arts sector. Knowledge of the arts community specifically the activities
of community arts practices is an asset. Superior oral/written
communications skills are essential.  Experience with word processing
and database management programs such as MS Word, WordPerfect, MS Access
and knowledge of desktop publishing such as PageMaker, Publisher, Quark
or Adobe graphics software is required. 

This contract position includes flexible hours beginning in July/02 at
16 hours per week and increasing to three days per week from January to
May/03 at $20 per hour.
