~~~~~~~~~~ e-drive ~~~~~~~~~~
We received the following update from Dan MacDonald, president of the Performing Arts Lodges of Canada (PAL) regarding the recent threat to PAL Toronto due to assisted housing regulation changes. Equity received nearly 50 letters of support for PAL following an urgent bulletin sent November 1st. PAL sends its thanks for assisting in this successful campaign
Our appearance today was more successful that we expected. Our mandate remains intact and the committee was convinced to make a strong recommendation to City Council, meeting on the 27th, that PAL be considered a special mandate, or, in our words, have our mandate confirmed!
There is still some detailing to be accomplished at a meeting between city staff and myself on Tuesday. I don't forsee any stumbles.
Response from the performing arts community was wonderful, immediate, passionate, clever, heartfelt and truthful. Most impressive.
Grateful thanks to all of you and many dozens of others who will not be able to be thanked personally.
We all did ourselves proud today!
Onward and upward....Next, an extended care facility in Toronto, and residential accommodations in other Chapters in Canada,
Dan MacDonald, President PAL.
