Apprenticeships Available


Funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage, Obsidian Theatre Company
is offering 3 paid apprenticeships on our upcoming main-stage production
of August Wilson's The Piano Lesson directed by Alison Sealy-Smith. 

Obsidian Theatre Company is a Canadian company of seasoned theatre
professionals who come from the many cultures of the African Diaspora;
an artistic ensemble committed to the exploration, development, and
production of the Black voice on the world stage. 
Apprenticeships will range from 6-8 weeks depending on the position and
will lead up to production in February 2003.

Positions Available:
Apprentice Stage Manager* (Equity credit)
Apprentice Lighting/Sound Designer
Apprentice Marketing/Publicity Director

Mentors Include:
Michael Sinclair (Stage Management)
Christopher Dennis (Lighting Design)
Quammie Williams (Sound Design)


Requirements:
*You are a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
*You are, or identify yourself as, a member of the African diaspora.
*You are a committed individual who is actively pursuing a professional
career in the theatre. *You have some degree of experience at the
community level, in an educational institution or in a professional
organization.

Applicants must submit bio/resume and letter of intent indicating career
goals and how an apprentice position would help in achieving those
goals. Interviews will be conducted the first week in December.
