EQUIFLASH: TRANSITION FEE CALCULATOR NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE
-----------------------------------------------------------

In response to requests from the membership, Equity has developed an
online calculator to assist members in determining their amended
contractual fee under the proposed terms of the new CTA. This calculator
will help members determine what their amended contractual fee will be
if they have a contract which begins after September 1, 2003 and/or
extends beyond November 30, 2003.

To access the calculator, simply click on the links below or go to
www.caea.com and follow the links to the calculator. Choose a type of
contract from the choices available (i.e. performer, stage manager,
director, or choreographer), choose your type of contract (i.e. actor,
swing, journeyman, extra) then choose the theatre's category from the
menu below. Insert your negotiated fee (do not use the dollar sign - $
- just the numbers) and click on CALCULATE.

The calculator shows you how the transition formula will be applied to
your negotiated fee in order to preserve to you the amount you may have
negotiated over scale which would have otherwise been lost because of
the grossing up of fees by the old 4% vacation pay, 3% management RRSP
contribution, and the insurance premium payable. PACT theatres have
agreed to increase the fees to artists who negotiated their contracts
prior to the new terms of the CTA coming into effect after September 1,
2003 so that you will not lose out by the new fee model.

Should you experience any difficulty using the calculator or have other
questions about the terms of the proposed CTA, please contact either the
National Office or the Western Office of CAEA.

NATIONAL OFFICE: 416-867-9165
WESTERN OFFICE: 604-682-6173

The terms of the new Canadian Theatre Agreement are unanimously
recommended by your negotiating committee and your national council.
Ratification packages have been sent to all members eligible to vote on
the agreement and ballots must be post-marked not later than Monday
August 11, 2003 in order to be counted. If you have not received your
ratification package, please contact the National Office immediately so
that arrangements can still be made to get you a package and a ballot.
