A Benefit Pageant for Actors' Fund

ATP donates proceeds to Actors' Fund of Canada.

Calgary, AB - Alberta Theatre Projects is pleased to announce a benefit
performance of Pageant by Daniel Macdonald, part of the National
playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays, from which single ticket
proceeds will be donated to The Actors' Fund of Canada. This special
performance will take place at 7:30pm, March 2 and will close this
year's Festival.

Since 1958, the Actors' Fund of Canada has helped thousands of
performers and other entertainment industry professionals to get back on
their feet after a major setback. When artists in need have nowhere else
to turn, the Fund can intervene at a critical moment with a rent cheque,
grocery money, subsidy for prescription drugs, or other emergency
financial assistance. A career in the performing arts seems like a dream
come true for many people. The all too frequent reality is that talented
performers in music, dance, drama, and film face a precarious livelihood
after years spent perfecting and practicing their craft.

When illness, injury, or other calamity makes it impossible to work,
artists are especially vulnerable. With the increasingly unpredictable
nature of the business, artists are more and more likely to be working
without the safety net provided by substantial savings or a steady job.
A small amount of money can make the difference between survival and
destitution.

Alberta Theatre Projects is delighted to be able to support this
essential program. ATP Artistic Director, Bob White commented, "In this
year's National playRites Festival we are presenting the works of new
Canadian playwrights for whom this is their first professionally
produced play. What better time to give back, when we are here
celebrating this new found talent!"

The National playRites Festival runs until March 2.
Tickets range from $14 to $32. Group Discounts and Equity Rates
available. Show times are Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30pm, Saturday
and Sunday at 2:00pm. Performances on the ENMAX Stage in the Martha
Cohen Theatre, EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts.
For tickets and info call Ticketmaster or ATP at 294-7402.
