This acclaimed masterpiece from Governor General's Award-winning
playwright Djanet Sears, is the story of a remarkable love, an
incredible heist, an extraordinary funeral, and a burning search for
answers to the profound mysteries of being alive. Set in present-day
Negro Creek, a 200-year-old Ontario Black community, "The Adventures of
a Black Girl in Search of God" recounts the tale of Rainey Baldwin
Johnson, a country doctor struggling to come to terms with the loss of
her child, the break-up of her marriage and the imminent death of her
elderly father, a man on a crusade.

In addition to a cast of inimitable characters, the play also features a
'living set', a 15 piece a capella chorus that forms both the principal
component of the physical set, as well as the non-verbal vocalese
soundscape which underscores the entire story.

This project requires primarily performers who work well in an ensemble
to portray characters of African descent .
