General Manager Equity Showcase Theatre


Equity Showcase Theatre is seeking a General Manager who combines
business skills with theatre experience.  Reporting to the Board of
Directors, the General Manager is responsible for the overall management
and operations as the organization implements a strategic plan that is
now in development. 

Equity Showcase Theatre is a not-for-profit organization that has served
the performing arts community for over 43 years.  Based in downtown
Toronto, the organization is dedicated to the on-going artistic
development of theatrical professionals. EST is committed to being the
best training facility in Canada for the working theatre professional -
including actors, directors, stage managers, production managers and
technical directors.  The training programs of EST embrace all forms of
theatrical expression and actively seek to include members of culturally
diverse populations.

Responsibilities of the General Manager will include the preparation of
annual operating budgets, submissions to the various arts funding
agencies, day-to-day bookkeeping, negotiations with suppliers including
St. Anne's Parish, from whom we lease our space, facilities management,
staff management, and program management and development.  The ideal
candidate should have at least 3 years of arts administration
experience, a passion for the performing arts, a comprehensive
understanding of budgeting and financial planning as well as skills in
government relations.  They should also have a comprehensive knowledge
of Microsoft Office.  Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills are
imperative.  The ability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines and
to exercise good judgment when managing competing priorities are assets.

This is a full-time contract position.
