For 10 Show Run at Massey Theatre - November 22 to 28

Fire ... where there's smoke, the groundbreaking multi-media show
created by Judith Marcuse of DanceArts Vancouver, returns to the Lower
Mainland as part of a 31 performance tour of Western Canada. Ten
performances of the Jessie Award winner that tackle the reality of
violence in the lives of teenagers are scheduled from November 22 to 28
at the Massey Theatre, 735 8th Avenue, New Westminster.

Fire ... where there's smoke is rooted in an extensive three-year
workshop process that involved over 400 teenagers. The show, which
premiered at the Scotiabank Dance Centre in October 2001, interfaces
movement, dialogue, music, and giant video projections to examine the
realities of bullying, racism, homophobia, domestic and media violence
that are present in the lives of many young people. The production,
suitable for ages 12 and up, is both relevant and highly entertaining.

After-show talkbacks, extensive community outreach, free printed
resource material written for youth by youth, and teachers' guides are
offered as part of the 'Fire' package.

The show features a cast of nine outstanding young professional
performers: David James Cox, Amber Funk, Nicco G. Lorenzo, Natasha Lutz,
Erin Mathews, Cameron McKinlay, Kelly Metzger, Stuart Pierre and Chris
Van Hyfte. The creative team, led by choreographer and stage / video
director Judith Marcuse, includes: composer Hal Foxton Beckett, writers
Kathleen Oliver and Kevin Kerr, videographer Val Nelson and lighting
designer Gerald King.
