ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ACTING

The Department of Theatre, Film, and Creative Writing at the University
of British Columbia invites applications for a tenure-track appointment
as Assistant Professor of Acting available July 1, 2004. Candidates
should possess a Master\'s level degree or equivalent professional
experience in the discipline, demonstrate excellence in teaching at the
post-secondary level, and hold a record of substantial creative and/or
research accomplishment. Professional or equivalent expertise in one or
more of the following areas will be an asset: directing, classical
theatre, screen acting, physical theatre and innovative performance
forms. 
 
The successful applicant will teach in the Department's BFA Acting and
BA Theatre programs, supervise students on undergraduate and graduate
level projects and productions, and provide administrative service to
the Department and the University. Professorial - stream faculty at UBC
are expected and encouraged to sustain excellence in research and/or
creative activity. 
 
The Department of Theatre, Film, and Creative Writing at UBC is unique
in Canada, with 29 full-time faculty, numerous sessional lecturers,
adjunct professors and professional guest artists, and over 200 majors
and graduate students. Each of the Programs has a national and
international reputation for excellence, strong undergraduate and
graduate degrees, and is a significant centre for creation and
production. Opportunities for interdisciplinary projects and
collaborations are abundant, both within the Department and with artists
and scholars across the campus. 
 
This position is subject to funding, and salary will be commensurate
with qualifications and experience.  Applicants should submit a letter
