The Power of the Dog, by Howard Barker, contrasts the ideological
complacency of the makers of history with the nightmarish ballet
performed
by those who seek to evade its consequences. It is 1946. Stalin and
Churchill secretly meet to sculpt post-war Europe. At the same time, a
fashion model who has been criss-crossing the ravaged continent having
herself photographed at sites of atrocity encounters a small battalion
of
Russian soldiers. Having collaborated with all sides to say alive, her
strategy of "accept everything, resist nothing" is shaken by her passion
for
an equally survivalist Russian officer. In the face of the capricious
lunacy of their political leaders, they create a morality for
themselves,
treading the murderous line between truth and accommodation.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
