The non-profit Society that operates the Terry Fox Theatre at Terry Fox
Secondary School in Port Coquitlam is searching for a special person to
take on the challenging role of Theatre Manager. The Terry Fox Theatre
is a professionally equipped, state of the art facility with a capacity
of 350 that plays a unique role in the Tri-Cities. The theatre is a
premier facility for the performing arts that caters to a full range of
school, community and professional productions. Although located in
Terry Fox Secondary, the theatre is operated by the Society as a
stand-alone facility. This is an exempt contract position reporting
directly to the Society's Board of Directors. 

We are seeking a confident, energetic and skilled leader who thrives in
an operations environment and who possesses an exceptional ability to
work closely with a diverse group of users. The theatre manager is the
first point of contact for all users, including school users, and is
responsible for managing the day to day operation of the theatre. A key
component of the position will be liaising with school staff on a daily
basis making experience in an academic environment an asset. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication
skills, proven competency with specific software programs, general
technical theatre skills, and formal education in a theatre management
program. The Theatre Manager will be responsible for the overall
management and administration of the theatre including recruitment and
supervision of technical/admin staff, financial planning and control,
facility management, marketing, public/user relations, grant writing,
and supporting a working Board of Directors. The Terry Fox Theatre is
primarily a rental facility and the theatre manager will have no direct
involvement in producing or presenting events. This position is an
excellent opportunity for an individual with a commitment to community
arts to join an organization during an exciting period of growth and
reinvention. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
*	Minimum 2 years experience in theatre management 
*	University or college related education (theatre) or equivalent
experience
*	Budgeting and event scheduling experience in a computerized
environment 
*	Financial management skills 
*	Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
*	Superb organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills 
*	Demonstrated mastery of PC and MAC based software including ACT,
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook Express, Explorer),
Garageband, CAD programs (Vectorworks, DataCAD), Quickbooks, familiarity
with Canon multi-media projection system
*	Self-starter with imagination and skills to promote the
theatre's aims and vision 

COMPENSATION/APPLICATION PROCESS:

Anticipated start date - August 23, 2004
*	1 year contract position with flexible hours including
weeknights and weekends
*	Salary range $36,000 - $40,000 depending on experience
