Manager of Touring & Education Services

Theatre Direct Canada, 28 year old, award-winning theatre for young people company is seeking a senior arts administrator for its General Manager position.  Theatre Direct Canada has an operating budget of just over $500,000 and produces 3 productions a season along with a variety of education and outreach programs and workshops.  The company's school touring program reaches between 40 - 45,000 young people each year.  

Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Manager of Touring & Education Services is responsible for managing all touring productions, and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of Theatre Direct Canada's Education and dissemination activities into the schools and education community.

Specific Duties include (but are not limited to):

Touring
*	Contact all actors and stage manager under the terms of the CTA; ensure company adherence to CTA and contractual obligations.
*	Generate full tour and daily schedules in consultation with Production Manager; generate daily Stage Management driving sheets.
*	Act as Company Manager to monitor company morale; organize dress rehearsal, opening celebrations and closing recognition.
*	Primary liaison with booking agents and/or presenting theatres.
*	Book travel and accommodation for artists during any overnight touring; provide any additional support that may be required for overnight touring.
*	Ensure that all activities have been archived.
*	Disseminating information on touring productions; respond to any presentation inquiries.
*	Attend conferences and prepare display materials related to local/national/international touring.

Education Services
*	Work with TDC's Education Consultant to liaise with school boards; keep informed on school board curriculum and policy.
*	Communication and follow-up with all schools.
*	Monitor feedback from school and ensure response. 
*	Set deadlines for study guide printing; liaise with Education Consultant and study guide teams to collect copy/content; arrange for design and printing; dissemination of study guides.
*	Contract and/or negotiate with educators required for special initiatives. 
*	Oversee all sales and marketing to education community and school audiences, including design and printing; dissemination of materials.
*	Attend education conferences and create display materials.
*	Provide support, administratively and otherwise, for special education initiatives.
*	Work with high school co-op students and manage their work load and schedule.

Management
*	Prepare education and touring reports/statistics for board meetings and public grants.
*	Manage and monitor expenses for education outreach budget.
*	Create preliminary budgets for special projects as required.
*	Work in collaboration with the Artistic Director and Production Manager to ensure effective management of touring costs.
*	Communication and primary contact with PACT and CAEA; attend annual PACT conference.
*	Assist with travel and accommodation for visiting artists.
*	Assist with contracting for any additional company activities, including the development of new work.

Required Skills 
Open and clear communication, both verbal and written Consistent and accurate attention to detail Basic computer skills including word, excel and email communication Ability to prioritize and manage time Knowledge of the education system and theatre is an asset 
Knowledge of the CTA is an asset

Some flexibility with hours will be requested on occasion.
