Gateway Theatre General Auditions:
The Gateway Theatre (Richmond, B.C) and Chemainus Theatre Festival
(Vancouver Island, B.C.) will be holding their General Auditions for the
2004-05 Main Stage and New Play Series(Gateway) on April 25th, 26th, and
27th 2004 at the Gateway Theatre. In attendance will be Simon Johnston
(Artistic Producer Gateway Theatre), and Jeremy Tow (Artistic Director
Chemainus Theatre Festival) There are two categories for auditioning,
Musical or Non-Musical. Please specify in the first line of your cover
letter which category you would prefer.  Musical candidates must be
strong singers.

DEADLINE:  FRIDAY, APRIL 2, 2004

Selection of Candidates
Simon Johnston (Gateway Theatre) and Jeremy Tow (Chemainus Theatre
Festival), will work in consultation with guest directors and will
seriously consider all resumes. Actors will be booked for audition
appointments by telephone.  Both Mr. Johnston and Mr. Tow encourage
established actors to submit their resumes, as both artistic directors
are relatively new to the Vancouver theatre scene.

Non-Musical Requirements:
Please have several monologues available. Candidates will be asked to
present one or more of the following: Two contrasting contemporary
monologues; no more than two minutes each. 
One classical monologue, no more than two minutes

Musical Requirements
Please have a variety of songs available. Candidates will be asked to
present one or more of the following: An accompanist will be provided,
please bring sheet music in the published key. Transposing will not be
accepted. An up tempo from the legit musical theatre repertoire (no pop
styles) A ballad from the legit musical theatre repertoire One
contemporary monologue; no more than two minutes.

Chemainus Theatre Festival Information:
Chemainus Theatre Festival's season follows the calendar year:
typically the first show opens in mid-February, and the last show of the
season closes near New Year's Day.  The remainder of the 2004 season is
already cast, and the 2005 season has not been solidified, as of yet.
Strong possibilities for the 2005 season include: Hayfever by Noel
Coward or The School for Scandal by Richard Sheridan; 

Lost in Yonkers by Neil Simon or An Inspector Calls by J.B.Priestly;  

My Fair Lady by Loerner and Lowe or The Wizard of Oz, by Harold Arlen
E.Y. Harburg;

Einstein's Gift by Vern Thiessen or 
Waiting for the Parade by John Murrell

An O.Henry Christmas by Peter Ekstrom or The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
by Barbara Robinson. 
 
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
