Heritage Theatre Presents Blood Brothers, based on the multi-award
winning
(Best Musical) story, written and composed by Willy Russell. This
modern
day masterpiece takes us on a thoughtful journey through the British
"class"
system. It is one of those rare pieces of musical theatre that goes
beyond
the traditional song and dance, and truly gives the audience cause to
stop,
think, and reflect. This show is both humorous and heartbreaking.
A mother, Mrs. Johnstone, is forced to give up one of her twin sons due
to
her extraordinary financial misfortunes. She agrees to allow her very
rich,
yet sterile, employer Mrs. Lyons to raise one of her boys. After the
babies
are born, and the deal has been done, she is promptly fired and asked to
never come near her son again. Despite the objection of both "mothers,"
the
boys become childhood friends. We witness the twin boys being brought up
in
two completely different environments, and watch helplessly as these two
genetically similar human beings slowly become more and more different
from
one another. Blood Brothers is a world governed by chance, fate, and
superstition.
