CALL FOR APPLICATIONS:  OFFICE MANAGER, POCULI LUDIQUE SOCIETAS (PLS)
DEADLINE: MONDAY DECEMBER 6, 2004

The PLS, Toronto's Medieval and Renaissance Theatre Company, is seeking
a part-time (20 hrs. per week) Office Manager.  This is a four-month
position, beginning January 3, 2005 and ending April 30, 2005, with the
possibility of renewal.

The PLS produces an annual season of three or four theatrical
performances of Medieval and Renaissance plays for Toronto audiences.
We produce a major festival in conjunction with an academic conference
every two or three years and we tour one production internationally
approximately every second year.  Our members are students, scholars,
professional theatre artists and community volunteers.    

The Office Manager works closely with the Artistic Director and special
committees of the Board of Directors.  He or she reports monthly to the
board of directors.  The Office Manager's responsibilities include:
	Office management: maintaining company records for productions,
special projects, costume rentals, daily operations and fund-raising
initiatives;
	Public relations: co-ordinating production publicity, designing
and producing the PLS newsletter, answering telephone and e-mail
requests;
	Bookkeeping and banking: maintaining financial records,
invoicing and paying bills for individual productions, special projects,
costume rentals, company operating expenses and fund-raising
initiatives;
	Co-ordination of production and special projects: liaising with
production teams and the board of directors; creating and overseeing
production schedules; co-ordinating rehearsal and performance space;
	Volunteer co-ordination: recruiting and coordinating volunteers
for production, special projects and daily operations;
	Supervising work-study students: assigning tasks to and
overseeing the work of up to two work-study students assisting in the
office.

The qualified applicant will have excellent communication and
organisational skills and experience in office management.  The ability
to schedule and co-ordinate the activities of a large group of people,
to meet deadlines and to work under pressure are essential skills.
Experience with Quicken, Excel, Access and Word are preferred.
Experience and/or training in theatre administration is preferred.  

The salary range for this position is $12-$14/hour, commensurate with
experience.
