CHANGES TO ENGAGEMENT POLICIES: INCLUSIVE COMPENSATION and MINIMUM FEES
------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
The Guest Artist Policy (GUEST ARTIST), Independent Artists Projects
Policy (INDIE), Industrial Engagements Policy (INDUSTRIAL), and the
Small Scale Theatre Addendum (SSTA) were recently reviewed, and amended
to the INCLUSIVE COMPENSATION MODEL.

Members continue to receive all of the same benefits as before, however
the change in the compensation model will result in the fee on your
contract looking much larger than it used to. All of the benefits
previously paid by the Engager in addition to the negotiated fee have
now been incorporated in the new minimum fees.

The additional benefits were rolled into the new minimum fees using the
same formula that was used to change to an inclusive compensation model
under the CTA/ITA and other Agreements. To the previous minimum fees,
Equity has added 3% in lieu of management RRSP, 4% in lieu of vacation
pay (except for stage management*), and $16.00 in lieu of insurance
premiums. This sum was then increased by an additional percentage
reflecting a cost of living increase of approximately 2% - 3%.

*Vacation pay will continue to apply to stage management in addition to
their negotiated fees.

The full amount of dues and benefits will now be deducted from the
negotiated fee, and remitted to Equity. In most cases, the deductions
will be as follows: 2% for working dues, 6% for RRSP, and $16.00 per
week for insurance coverage. Of course, GST/HST will be calculated
based on the negotiated fee, and paid to the registered Artist
accordingly.

Please visit www.caea.com for a listing of the applicable minimum fees
under the inclusive compensation model.

Changes to the policies are effective on the following dates:

Guest Artist Policy: Effective September 6th, 2004
Industrial Policy: Effective October 4th, 2004
Indie Policy: Effective November 8th, 2004
Small Scale Theatre Agreement: Effective January 1, 2005

If you have any questions, please contact an Equity Business
Representative at either Equity Office.
