Alberta Theatre Projects 
Director of Marketing and Communications 
ATP is Calgary's most prolific and award winning theatre company.  We
produce contemporary work for the stage as part of our Cornerstone
Series presentations from September to May, plus the Enbridge playRites
festival of New Canadian plays in January and February.  As Director of
our Marketing, Communications and Patron Services team you will develop
and implement a multi-faceted plan to engage subscribers and single
ticket patrons, returning over one million dollars box office annually.


Working within the ATP management team, the MAC Director will bring a
proven track record of success, demonstrating effective
interdepartmental and creative personnel management.  Experience in the
not-for-profit and performing arts sector is an asset.  Strong
leadership, effective managerial resource deployment and personal
creative flair are essential.

JOB DESCRIPTION 
Marketing Director 

Manage Marketing and Communications team; develop marketing plans
including advertising and overall PR strategies for individual plays and
season, 

customer service and audience development initiatives; initiate and
negotiate media sponsorships, develop and manage single ticket and
subscription sales; responsible for branding of ATP materials and
communications.

Duties Summary: 
Lead the marketing and communications of the theatre to grow the
audience and enhance ATP's community profile resulting in the long-term
sustainability of ATP.  

Personal accountabilities include: 

A marketing program that results in increased attendance. 
Targeted marketing and communication strategies that are driven by
quantitative market data and ATP's artistic mandate (i.e. subscription
and individual play campaigns). 
Exceptional customer service at the Box Office, Front of House, and with
all external audiences. 
Positive and widespread recognition in the community of the ATP brand
and artistic mandate. 
Marketing budget allocations that are monitored regularly to achieve
desired results. 
Buy-in and participation from ATP staff in marketing the brand and
positioning ATP with external audiences.  
An inclusive strategy for audience development, with buy-in from Board
and staff. 
Marketing and communications staff who understand their accountabilities
and goals and how they contribute to the strategy. 
A fun and respectful environment where people enjoy what they do; one
which values work-life balance. 
A collaborative and empowered marketing and communications team that
works in a climate of mutual trust and confidential support. 
Taking an active leadership role in collaborating with other arts
groups. 

Specific jobs/duties throughout the year: 

Develop, implement and oversee the yearly subscription campaign. 
Develop, implement and oversee single ticket marketing campaigns for
each play. 
With guidance from Managing Director, and discussions with AD Committee,
develop budget for the above and what is being budgeted for all
marketing line items (the latter developed by MAC Director only). 
Negotiate, secure and liaise with media sponsors. 
Negotiate and secure other relevant marketing partnerships 
Provide advice and guidance to other ATP staff re: communications
issues. 
Oversee how ATP's name is being used and what is being said about the
company from the various teams to ensure consistency in all
communications. (Communications guidelines) 
Oversee any marketing research being conducted and/or initiate research
required throughout the season. 
Review sales reports daily and make any necessary adjustments to the
marketing of the shows if required. 
Oversee the website design and development. 
Implement and oversee any customer service strategies for the company. 
Liaise with other partners, agencies, designers, and other contractors
as required. 
Oversee FOH/liaise with FOH Manager. 
Oversee Box Office/liaise with Box Office Manager. 
Represent ATP at Calgary Arts Partners meetings. 
Represent MAC at senior staff meetings, board meetings, Audience
Development Committee meetings.
