JOB OPPORTUNITY: Artistic Director 

Great Canadian Theatre Company invites applications for the position of
Artistic Director effective fall of 2005. As we prepare to move into our
brand new theatre, the Great Canadian Theatre Company is looking for a
talented artistic director to lead the company to the next phase of
artistic development. GCTC is a professional theatre company in Ottawa
that offers an eight-pay subscription season from September to May,
within an annual budget of $1,000,000. GCTC plays a vital role as a
catalyst and an agent promoting theatre and cultural activities in the
Ottawa region. Its mandate is to present Canadian plays, including new
plays that provoke examination of issues affecting contemporary Canadian
life and our place in the world.

The Artistic Director works in partnership with the General Manager, and
serves on the Board of Directors as an ex-officio voting member. The
ideal candidate will work with a small but energetic and creative staff.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of the Canadian
theatre repertoire and arts community, as well as proven dedication to
the development of new Canadian work and the nurturing of new and
emerging Canadian artists. 

The candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent
communication skills (written and oral), good interpersonal skills and
strong organizational skills.
