The Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance presents
A WORKSHOP ON TOURING (PART II) 

Wednesday, October 19, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Carousel Theatre Large
Studio, 1411 Cartwright Street,  Granville Island

A follow-up to the previous GVPTA  touring workshop (with a special
discount for returning participants*).  While the workshop last spring
addressed marketing issues among other topics, this day will have a
particular focus on working with the Canadian Actors Equity Association
under CTA and other agreements and meeting safety and working conditions
requirements.  However, both new and repeat registrants have the
opportunity to submit a wide variety of questions in advance so that the
workshop will be tailored to the groups' needs.  These might include:
funding sources for touring, recommended destinations and presenters,
travel logistics, negotiating with presenters and venues, promoting your
company on the road, and touring theatre for young audiences. 

Workshop Leaders: Louis-Marie Bournival (Arts Club Theatre, CAEA),
Stephanie Hargreaves (Arts Club Theatre Company); Christopher McGregor
(Carousel Theatre); Heather Refern (Alliance for Arts and Culture).
Moderator:  Cynthia Reid, Electric Company Theatre.

Registration fees:

$60 plus GST for Members of CAEA, GVPTA, Alliance for Arts and Culture =
$64.20 
*$40 plus GST for returning registrants from last GVPTA touring workshop
(March 4) = $42.80

2. 3 ONE WEEK INTENSIVES IN THE BOUFFON - TORONTO
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
ABOUT THE CLASS:
Working in the tradition of French Bouffon/Clown Master Philippe
Gaulier, the workshop begins with the study of Jeu and then progresses
into building Bouffon characters and turns, culminating in a final
public showing.  In addition, actors will have daily work on building
spatial and body awareness.  Specialized instructors will teach: le jeu,
acrobatics, make-up and movement.

Week 1 - LEVEL I (intro to Bouffon) Max. Students is 18
Date and Time:  November 12-17, 12pm-5pm weekends, 6pm-10pm weekdays.
Prerequisites:  This class is open anyone, and also to all artists in
all disciplines (dance/theatre/film/music/clown).

Week 2 - LEVEL II (Building a Bouffon Number) Max. students is 12 2 open
public showings at the end of week, Friday/Saturday nights, PWYC, with
money going to the artists. Date and Time:  November 19-24. 6pm-10pm.  
Prerequisites:  Some experience in Bouffon, completion of Level 1, or
permission from the instructors.

**NEW WORKSHOP!**
WEEK 3 - LEVEL III (Refining Performance) Max. Students is 8
2 open public showings at the end of week, Saturday/Sunday nights, PWYC,
with money going to the artists. Date and Time:  Nov. 27-Dec. 2,
12pm-5pm weekends, 6pm-10pm weekdays.
Prerequisites:  Completion of Level I and II, or permission from the
instructors.  This course is designed for students who are currently
working on their own material and want to refine it - Bouffons,
characters, clowns, solos or duos all welcome.

Location:  MBS Dance Studio, Toronto Dance Theatre, Nightwood Studio.
Fees: Level I, II or III - $375 regular, $300 for CAEA
Levels I & II or II & III - $650 regular, $520 CAEA
Levels I, II &3 - $950 regular, $750 CAEA
Required deposit of $100 - refundable two weeks before the workshop.
