#1663 The Modern Monologue with Rod Ceballos
Tues & Thurs 2 - 5 pm
Apr 4 - 20
6 classes
CAEA $250 Non-CAEA $310
Extended Deadline for application: Mar 28
This class will focus on the exploration and presentation of modern
monologues. This exploration will move from the workshop into the
audition setting to enable the actor to establish a visceral connection
to the playwright's material, and work on how to keep the "live"
connection resonating and fresh from one audition to the next. Language
and punctuation will also be examined as a key to learning the
playwright's intentions and to unlocking the emotions of the actor and
the emotional life of the character. Other areas to be investigated:
finding the physical, emotional, and verbal freedom to make choices in
the presentation of the monologue; courage, boldness, directness; the
importance of total preparation; the audition itself and SIMPLICITY.
This class will best serve those who have a desire to grow as artists
through risk and failure. Disciplined rehearsal outside of class is
essential.
