CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: FRINGE, AUDITIONS - TORONTO
-------------------------------------------------
Upstage Productions is accepting submissions for the new 80s musical
entitled Like Omigawd!, which will have its onstage debut at the 2007
Toronto International Fringe Festival July 4th-15th. Rehearsals begin
the weekend of June 9, and the rehearsal schedule shall be weekday
nights and weekend days.

Like, Omigawd!

Auditions will be held on Sunday, May 6th and Monday, May 7th from
10am-5pm. Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, May 1st.

Submissions (email preferred) including headshot and resume may be sent
to: auditions at upstageproductions.ca. If you prefer to submit hard
copies, please mail to:

Upstage Productions
77 Huntley St, Suite 823
Toronto, ON
M4Y 2P3

The music from the show is 80s pop, inspired by icons of the time.
Performers are asked to prepare a pop song of their choice showing vocal
range, and are asked to bring either a track or sheet music.
Auditionees may be asked to read from the script.

Most characters in this play are in high school. Please submit widely,
but keep in mind that actors/actresses should be able to portray late
teens.

Performers of all ethnicities/backgrounds are encouraged to submit, as
well as union and non-union members. Ability to move is an asset.

We thank everyone who submits, but only those who are contacted will be
asked to audition.

Primary Characters:

Madison - She's the newest addition to Duncanford High. She is a
fun-loving, outspoken, confident girl, reminiscent at times, of 80s icon
Molly Ringwald.

James - The heartthrob in the play. James is in his freshman year of
college.

Sheila - The stereotypical IT girl that has looks, money and popularity
in her favour. If Nikki, Liz and Sheila were in a girl band, Sheila
would be the lead singer. Her speech is that of the 80s valley-girl,
and her persona is similar to Heather 1 in the 80s movie, Heathers
starring Wynona Rider.

Nikki - Nikki is one of Sheila's clan members. Sheila may be fake, but
Nikki is simply cold. She is jealous of Sheila's beauty, her leadership,
and her relationship.

Liz - Liz is Sheila's other clan member. Unlike Nikki and Sheila, Liz is
full of compassion. She is a lover, not a fighter, but is also a
follower in every sense of the word. Liz is not book smart at all.
Although she is a seeming ditz, she remains very perceptive and
street-smart. In moments of getting flustered, Liz is known for being a
speed-talker.

Michael - Michael is extremely smart. He is the dorky type who makes an
earnest attempt to be suave. The wrong fashion sense, the occasional
stutter and an extremely sensitive side advertise his nerdy disposition.
Michael suffers from asthma. He is similar to Jon Cryer's character in
Pretty in Pink.

Note: CAEA members participating in this production will be signed to a
Fringe waiver and all net proceeds from the production will be part of a
profit share with all participants.
