2007 - 2010 COA AND OPA RATIFIED 
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The recently negotiated Canadian Opera Agreement (between Equity and the
Canadian Opera Company) and the Opera Agreement (between Equity and
Calgary Opera Association, Edmonton Opera Association, Manitoba Opera
Association, Opera Ontario Inc., Opera Lyra Ottawa, Pacific Opera
Victoria and Opera Atelier) were ratified by the Equity membership in a
ballot count held today.

Members voted overwhelmingly in support of the proposed changes. The
return rate on the COA ballots mailed was 30%. 
The return rate on the OPA ballots mailed was 23%.

A total of 98% of the members who voted cast their vote in favour of the
Canadian Opera Agreement changes.

A total of 95% of the members who voted cast their vote in favour of the
Opera Agreement changes.

Thanks to Equity members Michael Downie, Nan Shepherd and Barry Stilwell
who volunteered their time to count the ballots.

The new Agreements come into effect on September 7, 2007 and end June
30th, 2009. All terms and conditions of the Canadian Opera Agreement and
the Opera Agreement apply retroactively to July 1, 2007.

Copies of the Canadian Opera Agreement and the Opera Agreement,
including the online web tool e-search, will be available on
EQUITYONLINE shortly and in hard copy as soon as printing allows.
