Theatre Collingwood announces auditions for the 2007 summer season of
classic musicals and comedies.

"SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM" (musical) Lyrics by:  Stephen Sondheim, Music
by
Jule Style, Leonard Bernstein, Mary Rodgers, Richard Rodgers, Continuity
by
Ned Sherrin.
Contract period:  May 28 - June 23, 2007
a) Role of Woman 1:  mid 30's, mezzo
b) Role of Woman 2: mid 30's, soprano
c) Role of Man 1: mid 30's, high baritone/low tenor
d) Narrator:  flexible in acting range, charismatic actor capable of
comedy
and fine storytelling
All performers must be thoroughly familiar with the complex musical
theatre
style of Stephen Sondheim, possess an excellent comic flair and have
good
dance skills.

Audition Requirements: Singers are requested to prepare 2 contrasting
music
theatre pieces, one of which is a Sondheim selection.  Narrator should
prepare one comic monologue and one storytelling selection.

"I DO! I DO! " (musical) Book and Lyrics by Tom Jones, Music by Harvey
Schmidt
Contract period:  July 23 - August 18, 2007
a) Role of Agnes:  mid 30's, soprano
b) Role of Michael:  mid 30's, baritone
Both performers should be excellent musical theatre singers with strong
acting skills, good dance and physical acting capabilities and adept at
Caging. Skill with applying makeup well and quickly an asset. Agnes
plays
the violin, Michael the saxophone; neither play very well. It is helpful
but not a requirement that the performers actually play their
instruments.

Audition Requirements:  Singers are requested to prepare 2 contrasting
music
theatre pieces.

 "LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS" by Neil Simon
Contract period:  September 3 - 29, 2007
a) Role of Barney: mid 40=B9s, conservative, fussy, prissy, middle class
b) One female actor to play three roles:
Elaine:  late 30=B9s, edgy, =8Cdesperate=B9, cynical, rather hard
Bobbi:  late 20=B9s, trendy, an actor, a motormouth, a bit vacuous
Jeanette:  late 30=B9s, described as a walking mass of depression
Excellent physical actors with a strong comic flair are required.

Audition Requirements:  Actors should prepare 2 contrasting modern
monologues, at least one of which should demonstrate comic ability.

Submission deadline:  February 7/07 (Play auditions held February 13 and
Music auditions February 16-17, in Toronto).
