CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - VANCOUVER

The Playhouse Theatre Company will be holding auditions for our upcoming
production of Oliver! Music Lyrics and Book by Lionel Bart. This
production will be directed by Michael Shamata and the Musical Director
will be Lloyd Nicholson.  

Relevant dates are as follows:

Auditions:	May 25 - May 31st. 
The NEW Playhouse Production Centre, 127 East 2nd Avenue 

Rehearsals begin	October 22, 2007
Show Opens		November 22, 2007
Show Closes 	December 15, 2007
Possible Holdover to December 22, 2007

MR BUMBLE   (Vocal:  Legit Tenor) 
also plays:  Dr Grimwig,  London Citizen, Barkeep
age:   should read anywhere from 40 to 60
NOTE:   the singing voice is of utmost importance.
Accent: 	Mr Bumble:	North Country
Dr Grimwig:	middle-to-upper class London

MR BROWNLOW    (Vocal Range:    Baritone)
also plays: Mr Sowerberry, Workhouse Board Member, 3 Cripples Patron 
age: he is Oliver's grandfather -- should read between 50 and 60 --
NOTE:  kind and generous -- but not weak --
Accent:  upper-class London

BILL SYKES   (Bass Baritone)
also plays: Workhouse Board Member, Policeman (at end of ACT I)
age:   35 to 45
NOTE:  this is an abusive man who murders his girlfriend, all different
types -- from short and stocky to tall and wiry --

also plays:  Workhouse Assistant, London Citizen, 3 Cripples Patron, Old

age:   should read between 13 and 16 --  but can be older 
NOTE:  this will be an important singing voice for the show (especially
in "who will buy")

All Others:	Cockney

country / non-London
NOTE: the character must appear to be innocent -- without guile

CHARLOTTE    (Belter with a Soprano) 
Also plays: Workhouse Assistant, London Citizen, 3 Cripples Patron,
Milkmaid 
Age:  should be able to play 15-25 
Accent:  	Charlotte:  North country 
All others: Cockney 

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
