Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement:
Opera Lyra Ottawa is seeking a full-time General Director with exceptional skills in development, public relations, marketing, and cultivation of donors. Opera Lyra Ottawa, under the artistic direction of Tyrone Paterson, produces two full stage opera productions presented in Ottawa's National Arts Centre and one opera in concert each season. The quality of its artistic product is recognized as one of the highest in the country.  It also has extensive educational programmes addressing the needs and interests of local elementary and high school students as well as the Opera Studio - a training program for emerging Canadian opera singers.

Job Responsibilities:
1.      Cultivating and negotiating agreements with donors and sponsors, and raising the image of the Company in the community. 
2.      Relationship building with members of the Board of Directors, as well as with national, regional and local stakeholders, including the National Arts Centre, the Guild, the Opera Lyra Chorus, local choral groups, universities, and granting institutions. 
3.      Marketing, communication and outreach planning and delivery. 
4.      Supporting the Artistic Director's development and refinement of the artistic vision for the Company, budgeting for the productions, and programming that reflects the strategic plan and is achievable given the financial realities of the Company, and directing the provision of support to the artistic team in the production of the operas and any performance events, recognizing that the artistic productions are the raison d'être of the Company.
5.      Managing financial planning and operations, human resources, and general administration of the office.
6.      Approving grant and foundation applications.
7.      Building a strong team ethic in the office.
