EQUITY & PACT ANNOUNCE A NEW CREATION CONTRACT - COMING SOON
------------------------------------------------------

Canadian Actors' Equity Association (Equity) and the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT) are pleased to announce the upcoming "Tangerine Project" (working title): a flexible, contract for new creation. A collaborative committee representing both staff and membership from Equity and PACT developed this new contract model together thorough a process driven by respect, and benefiting from a great deal of listening by both parties.

The Tangerine Project will be available as a time-limited pilot project from early 2011 through to June 24, 2012. It will offer unprecedented flexibility, particularly with regard to scheduling, security options and casting. Divided into four phases, from creation to production, the terms will allow equal collaboration from inside and outside both associations, and for workshop, rehearsal and presentation models that are unique to the needs of a specific project.

The details and application process will be posted on both Equity and PACT's websites in January 2011. If you are preparing for creation work in the New Year, please consider using the Tangerine Project. Participating companies and collectives will be required to provide the two organizations with feedback about the experience, so that this information can be incorporated into the next CTA negotiations. The committee is very excited by the possibilities that the Tangerine Project can provide to engagers and artists alike, and we hope that there will be sufficient interest to solicit useful and detailed feedback.

Created with deep consideration for the changing needs of new performance creation and the challenges that new work often confronts, especially in the early days of development, the Tangerine Project will hopefully address some of the hurdles facing creators of new work.
