Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement:
We are interested in meeting professional actors who reflect the
cultural diversity of Toronto. It is part of our mandate to showcase
'the classics for the modern theatre lover' on the premise that these
stories belong to everyone and that casting is based on the performer,
without regard for skin colour or ethnicity. 

Additional information:
This marks the launch of an annual summer season of classics performed
on the Greek Theatre stage in the Guildwood Gardens off Kingston Road,
Scarborough. Founding artistic director Sten Eirik will direct an
open-air rendition of Chekhov's "The Cherry Orchard."

The Independent Theatre Agreement will apply.

Lyubov Ranevskaya - Late 40's to 50's.
Anya - Her daughter, 17.
Varya - Her foster daughter, 24.
Gaev - Lyubov's brother. 50's and up.
Lopakhin - A merchant.
Trofimov - A student. 30-ish.
Simeonov-Pishchik - A landowner.
Sharlotta - A governess.
Yepikhodov - A clerk.
Dunyasha - A maid.
Firs - A servant. Elderly.
Yasha - A male servant. 

Please send photo + resume by email only, indicating the role you wish
to be considered for. If email submission isn't possible, phone us to
make arrangements.

Actors selected for an audition will be asked to present two contrasting
monologues totalling max. 5 minutes, and may be asked to read sides from
"The Cherry Orchard." PLEASE MAKE SURE TO BRING A HARDCOPY PHOTO +
RESUME TO THE AUDITION.

To those performers whom we're not able to contact this time around, we
give thanks for your interest and will keep your materials for future
consideration.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
