Additional information:
Rumble Theatre seeks actors for our 2014 production of Djanet Sears' Governor General's Award-winning play, Harlem Duet, directed by Artistic Director Stephen Drover.

Harlem Duet is the modern-day prelude to Othello and tells the story of Othello and his first wife, Billie (before Desdemona). Set in contemporary Harlem at the corner of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X boulevards, the play explores the space where race and sex intersect and where a love story negotiates the rocky terrain of politics, culture and heritage.

The following parts are being cast:

Othello: male, African-American, late thirties

Billie: female, African-American, mid-late thirties

Canada: male, Billie's father, African-American, mid-late sixties

Amah: female, Billie's sister-in-law, African-American, late twenties/early thirties

Magi: female, the landlady, African-American, late thirties/early forties

Please submit a headshot and resume to rumble at rumble.org with the subject line: "Harlem Duet audition" by April 26, 2013. We will reply with an audition time and sides.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
