Rainbow Stage is now accepting electronic submissions from actors of all ethnicities, religions, ages (16+), sizes, shapes, and orientations with a fabulous sense of humour and excellent comedic timing for our 60th Anniversary Season production of The Producers. Jazz, Tap, Ballet and physical comedic ability are an asset as the ensemble plays a wide variety of roles.

In an effort to reduce paper consumption, Rainbow Stage is only accepting online submissions.

While we thank you for submitting your materials electronically and your interest in our 60th Anniversary Season, only actors selected for an audition will be contacted with an appointment.

Max Bialystock male, tenor 30 + lead
Max is charming, fiery, sarcastic, demanding, pushy, impatient, short tempered and unwilling to cooperate nicely - but with a kernel of goodness. He can be very intimidating, is driven, and willing to try any scheme that will help him to make money.  Comedic virtuosity, comedic improv is a must.  Mastery of physical comedy is an asset.

Leo Bloom male, tenor 30 + lead
A mousey, nervous and fearful accountant, he is prone to panic attacks and keeps a security blanket. Leo is everyman, a dreamer, risk averse, a do-gooder.  Excellent comedic timing, ease with comedic improv is a must. The straight-man in the comedic duo.

Ulla Inga Hansen-Benson-Yonsen-Tallen-Hallen-Svaden- Svanson female, belt 25+ lead
Stereotypical Swedish woman: very tall, astonishingly beautiful with lovely blonde hair.  Much smarter than she looks, she is a woman who knows how to use her physical attributes to her advantage, all the while maintaining an air of innocence.  Ulla is intoxicating to men.  Excellent comedic timing, and power belt is a must.  Proficiency at dance and Swedish accent is an asset.

Franz Liebkind male, baritone 30 + supporting
Delusional, fervent Nazi who has penned an admiring musical tribute to Adolf Hitler, titled Springtime for Hitler.  His play is described as "worst play ever written," a certain flop.  He is a fool.

Roger de Bris male, baritone 40 + supporting
Exaggeratedly gay theatre director, over the top artiste, described as the worst director to have ever lived. He lives with his "common-law assistant" Carmen Ghia and their all-gay theatrical production crew.  Roger has been working in the theatre for longer than anyone can remember, but never at the Tony award winning level. Excellent Liza Minnelli impersonation an asset.

Carmen Ghia male, tenor 30+ supporting
Carmen Ghia is Roger De Bris' "common-law assistant", the perfect side-kick who believes whole-heartedly in the creative genius of his life partner.  Carmen has been working in theatre almost as long as Roger has been.  Excellent comedic timing and strong falsetto coloratura "lady singing" are a must.
