Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement:
The Shaw Festival will be holding one day of auditions, in Toronto, for the role of GUS/AUGUSTUS in Tom Stoppard's 'ARCADIA".

Rehearsing in Niagara on the Lake, October 2014, it will be presented at The Royal Alexandra Theatre, in Toronto, November & December 2014.

Submitters must be 18 years of age or older on the date of contracting.

Gus/Augustus    Gender Male     Age range 15   

We are looking for an actor, 18 or older, who can play 15, for the combined roles of GUS/AUGUSTUS in Tom Stoppard's "ARCADIA".

GUS -
The youngest child of an aristocratic family in modern England.
He has not spoken since he was 5 years old. He is shy and sensitive and is probably a genius.

AUGUSTUS -
The youngest child of an aristocratic family in England in 1812.
He is home from boarding school and is very talkative.
While away at school he has become a very entitled and somewhat pompous young man.
He is mischievous and is intent on embarrassing his older sister.

The actor must be able to waltz.
The actor must be able to do an Upper Class British Accent.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Artists cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
