GUEST ARTIST POLICY REVIEW: MEMBER INPUT WANTED
--------------------------------------

The Guest Artist Policy is one of the most highly used of all of
Equity's policies and provides hundreds of work weeks for the
membership. As part of the ongoing review of all of Equity's agreements
and policies, the time has come for a thorough review of the Guest
Artist Policy.

In 2008, Equity created the Canadian Dance Policy, designed for
individual and independent dance engagements. In the last few years
Equity members began approaching the Association about creating an
equivalent policy for small-scale opera engagements, which prompted a
comprehensive policy review.

The Guest Artist Policy will be updated to incorporate the Canadian
Dance Policy and a new policy for small-scale opera engagements. Equity
is seeking comments and suggestions from all disciplines regarding this
review. The Policy suggestion deadline has been extended to April 17,
2015 to accommodate a more comprehensive review process.

Conveniently reorganized and updated to reflect the changing structure
of engagements, the new Dance/Opera/Theatre Policy will assemble working
conditions for all three work disciplines into one easy-to-use document.
Terms common to all, including updated provisions for the use of photos
and recorded material on the Internet and new touring conditions, will
be grouped together. Each work discipline will also have a unique fee
sheet and working terms section.

Members who have worked under either the current Guest Artist or
Canadian Dance Policies are encouraged to provide Equity with feedback
on needed improvements in areas such as: administrative simplicity, ease
of understanding the terms and conditions, the changing types of
engagers accessing the policies, information about the size and type of
performance venues and any other pertinent information about working
conditions.

We are particularly interested in hearing from members about rehearsal
and performance schedules and how fees might be adapted accordingly. For
those who work in opera, it is particularly important that we hear from
you as there is currently no comparable policy for these kinds of opera
engagements.

Please send your comments and ideas to agreements at caea.com by April 17,
2015 (new extended suggestion deadline). We look forward to hearing from
you soon.
