Additional information:

Youtheatre, Quebec's oldest professional theatre company producing new work
for young audiences, is looking for two actors in its new work for teenagers
The Law of Gravity (working title).

This show explores sensitive issues; gender identity, sexual orientation,
and friendship. Actors should be comfortable with this subject matter.

Characters (actors must be convincing in the particular age ranges):

FRED: Male, age 16, emo, athletic, likes to wear makeup and nail polish, but
is he gay?

DOM: 16 year-old girl who chooses to “pass” as a boy (shaved head/buzz cut?)
Androgynous. Has changed Facebook status from female to male.

Please do not submit children! Youtheatre works under the CTA.

Production: The Law of Gravity is the first script for young adults by
Olivier Sylvestre, a 2015 Governor General’s Literary Awards Finalist. In an
English translation by Bobby Theodore, Youtheatre will produce the world
premiere, directed by recent NTS graduate Frédéric Sasseville-Painchaud.

Synopsis: Following the unlikely friendship between Fred and Dom, the play
asks what it means to be a male in a heteronormative society. Over the
course of a school year, the two friends question their gender, sexual
identity and the pressure they feel from their peers, while gazing across
the river to a dream-like place called The City.
