Halifax Urban Chickens: Public Consultation, 7pm Wednesday February 10th
Halifax City Hall, 1841 Argyle Street

On December 14, 2009, Peninsula Community Council (PCC) passed a motion that
"staff open a planning application to consult with the public, address any
potential issues (e.g. separation distances, number of hens, prohibition of
roosters) and, if appropriate, draft amendments to the Halifax Peninsula
Land Use By-law to permit backyard laying hens."

Following the public information meeting, the proposal will undergo a
detailed review. Staff will prepare a report to be tabled at PCC. If PCC
decides to consider the Land Use By-law amendments, they will schedule a
public hearing. Notice of a public hearing will be published in the
newspaper and on the HRM website.
