Equity Launches National Travelling Photo Exhibit of Canadian Theatre
Sunday, March 3rd 2 - 4 pm at Vancouver’s Central Library
Spring Thaw, The Farm Show, Anne of Green Gables and the Vagina Monologues
are all brought together in a single collection celebrating more than 50
years of Canadian theatre. Vancouver artists will be particularly charmed by
pictures of the 1967 Vancouver Playhouse Ecstasy of Rita Joe (Frances Hyland
and Chief Dan George), the 1980 Tamahnous Theatre Midas (Larry Miller) and
the 1996 Women In View The Lear Project (Joy Coghill and Pat Armstrong.)
>From the first professional stage production held after WWII to a modern
opera premiered in April, 2001, Canadian Actors’ Equity Association’s (CAEA)
touring photo exhibit will excite and enrich the Canadian theatre community
and enthusiasts as it tours across the nation throughout 2002, including the
Canadian Theatre Conference at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.

Archival quality display prints were digitally scanned and prepared using
Epson Canada's new 2000P archival print process, with paper and inks
generously donated by Epson Canada. Over 400 prints were submitted before
the selection committee narrowed it down to the exhibit's 89 total images.
This exhibition is also a unique collection of archival photographs, digital
reproductions of some of Canada’s finest theatre photographers (particularly
David Cooper of Vancouver), who have given their blessing to the exhibit.
CAEA is the professional association representing over 5000 performers,
directors, choreographers and stage managers throughout Canada, who are
engaged in English-language live performance, including theatre, opera,
ballet and dance.
