brought to you by Theatre Ontario and STAF [Small Theatre Administrative
Facility]
Monday, December 9th: 2 - 5 pm
A practical 3-hour session with Lisa Nabieszko of STAF
The Small Theatre Administrative Facility (STAF) is a non-profit
organization that provides administration and promotion support to
independent theatre companies and theatre artists in Ontario.
Since starting STAF in 1992, Executive Director Lisa Nabieszko has
worked on over 400 grant applications, completed more than 75 years
worth of bookkeeping, and been involved in the promotion of nearly 150
shows, most of them new works. Companies she has worked with have
covered the spectrum of independent theatre practice: from first-time
producers, to award-winning senior artists with decades of experience;
from family theatre to the most controversial avant-garde performance
art.
Some of the topics to be covered include:
The Basics: the funders and their programs
Getting Ready: people to see, decisions to make
Preparing a project description
Budgeting: the balance between dream and reality
Putting it all together
THIS SEMINAR IS SPECIFICALLY FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE READY TO PRODUCE A SHOW
AND NEED SOME PRACTICAL ADVICE FOR GETTING STARTED
