The Ship's Company Theatre
The Ship's Company Theatre invites applications for the position of
Artistic Producer.
The Ship's Company Theatre is located in the rural community of
Parrsboro, Nova Scotia and is currently celebrating its 20th Season of
operation. The company produces a season which includes two main stage
productions, a concert series, and second stage productions during the
summer months. The company's mandate is to be a prime centre for the
development and production of innovative Atlantic and Canadian Theatre.
Beginning in the 2004 season the company will be producing in a new $1.9
million facility connected to the historic M.V. Kipawo ferry vessel,
from which the company derives its name. The company operates with a
small core staff and an annual budget that modestly exceeds $300,000.
The Artistic Producer is the company's senior staff position and leads
the company artistically, financially, and administratively. Reporting
to the Board of Directors, the applicant should be fully conversant with
Canadian and regional theatre, innovative, entrepreneurial and have
exceptional management skills. The Artistic Producer maintains a high
professional profile in the community and should have strong
interpersonal skills and a sensitivity to working in a rural community.
This is a full time position which will commence in the first quarter of
2004.
