AUDITION NOTICE

THEATRE DIRECT CANADA has commissioned the acclaimed Urge Collective to create an interdisciplinary piece for young people told through a girl's perspective for grade's 7/8 and up. 

This collective made up of Katharine Duncanson (interdisciplinary performance artist), Linda Smith (composer/performer), Marie Josée Chartier (dancer/choreographer) and Fides Krucker (singer/creator) is seeking 5 dynamic female performers to become part of the performance ensemble.

REQUIREMENTS:
*	Must be accomplished and secure in a primary discipline/skill (i.e. Acting, singing, movement/dance, instrumental)
*	Must have ability in a secondary discipline, though not necessarily skilled/developed (i.e. an actor who can move, an instrumentalist who can teach yoga, a dancer who can sing)
*	A strong curiosity in other forms of expression than your own
*	A desire to teach your own form to the ensemble and a willingness to see it change as it meets the other forms of expression in the group

Non-performance artistic pursuits are welcome.
Abilities as writers/performers/composers/choreographers is an asset

THE PROJECT:
The ensemble will dive into themes of resonance for 11-14 year old girls including body image, girl gangs/cliques, boys, juggling school life and home life etc.

The piece will be created over one year.  The major work times are:
*	Two weeks in October 2003
*	Two weeks in January 2004
*	Four weeks in May 2004
*	The final production will be in 2004/2005 Season


AUDITION DETAILS:	April 26th and April 27th
Call-back sessions will take place on the same day. Group work and guided improv will be conducted, and auditionees will be asked to bring in certain ideas/pieces to the work.
