b current's annual festival of original one-acts in workshop and
production, celebrates the new theatrical works of black women artists.
Like the hand game "rock.paper.scissors", this series of emerging works
invites the audience to take a chance and plunge into a seriously
creative game: you're never quite sure which combination of works will
comprise the performance fare on any given day.  The possibilities for
the remaining performances include:

-  After All by Carol Anderson explores the poignant story of a father
and daughter facing each other for the first time, struggling out of
limbo, moving towards redemption.  Why do some fathers leave? Where do
they go? And what happens to the daughters they leave behind?

-  better parts by nicole stamp is a brainy, playful, flirtation with
words and music, fusing spoken word, stand-up, searing and satirical
social commentary, sheer idiocy, and song.   With accompanist
double-bassist Paul Clifford, stamp spins a loose narrative linking her
penetrating, subversive, and cleverly rhymed observations on bizarre
topics ranging from a private
fantasy of being an uber-political anarchist chick to her fascination
with ethnic cookery to her old habit of stealing office supplies from
temp jobs.

-  God Don't Like Ugly by Rhoma Spencer, is a story unfolding in
Trinidadian ritual style which tells of a church leader's fight to
defend the forbidden Shouter Baptist tradition, against the colonial
powers.

Artistic director/producer, ahdri zhina mandiela is joined by both new
and returning creative and technical artists, like director Diane
Roberts, lighting designer Andy Moro, musician Alejandra Nunez,
performer debbie young, production stage manager Steven Green, and a
variety of talented performers and musicians.
