General Auditions
The Obsidian Theatre Company

The Obsidian Theatre Company is looking for actors of all ages.

The Obsidian Theatre Company was launched in February 2000 by a group of
seasoned theatre professionals who come from the many cultures of the
African Diaspora.  Obsidian is an artistic ensemble committed to the
exploration, development, and production of the Black voice on the world
stage. The company operates with a threefold mission; 1) to produce
plays from the worldwide canon with a primary focus on the works of
highly acclaimed playwrights of African descent 2) to develop
AfriCanadian playwrights through dramaturgical and performance workshops
3) to train and develop emerging and senior theatre professionals. 

Obsidian Theatre is a PACT member and as such is governed by the CTA.
Equity membership on the part of the performers however is not a
requirement for these general auditions.

Deadline for submissions: Received in the office on or before Friday,
November 28, 2003 Candidates will be contacted by phone with an audition
date and time.

Please be prepared to present: 
*       One contemporary monologue from the African diasporic canon 
*       One 16 bar gospel hymn to be sung acapella

These are general auditions and all submitted resumes will be kept on
file. These auditions are open to performers at all career levels. For
