Equity has learned that several Artists were charged fees to audition
for Royal Opera Canada. It is Equity's position that no Artist should be
required to pay to have their work seen at an audition and Royal Opera
Canada has agreed to cease this practise. If you choose to audition for
this producer you are under no obligation to pay any fees. Furthermore,
Royal Opera Canada has agreed to refund any audition fees paid by Equity
members as required by Equity. 
 
Please be advised that Equity and Royal Opera Canada have yet to
formalize arrangements for the engagement of Equity members for the 2003
- 2004 season. We therefore advise Equity members not to provide any
services to this Engager until such arrangements are in place. Further
E-drive notices will update you with new information as it becomes
available.
